Time with company: 2 years
“I’ll be honest and say I knew very little about Barratt before I joined. Most of what I knew came from what I’d heard other people say, and it wasn’t always that positive. I’ve always been a fan of older houses, so you could say I wasn’t your typical ‘Barratt person’. Or so I thought. As it happens, I’ve fitted in perfectly.
I was really attracted to the sound of the job. It seemed interesting with plenty of variety and lots of opportunity. I’ve worked in IT since I left university, working for a number of companies in a variety of support roles. But never before have I been as busy as this at work. All IT departments have plenty of work, but not like this. I’ve been involved in a major merge project, day-to-day support, email systems and communications. It’s hard work, but I’m thoroughly enjoying myself. No two days are the same, and I’ve learnt a huge amount since I started. And though I’m definitely a ‘techie’, this is a people business, and I’ve really enjoyed the interaction and teamwork. You don’t always get that in IT which can sometimes seem ‘impersonal’. “
