Time with company: 25 years
As a young girl, all those years ago, I saw Barratt as a large well established company and a major player within the house building industry. I was attracted to the fact there may be an opportunity for me to build a career within Barratt.
The reality of working for Barratt and David Wilson Homes is that there is always a new challenge. I find the work ethic to be strict but fair, with the overriding goal that no matter how good we are doing, we can always to better, which I believe in 100%.
In 1986 I started as a trainee from college within the Buying department and six months later my Barratt career began. I stayed in the Buying department until May 1990 when I moved to the position of Computer Operator within the Accounts department, when my love of all things financial began. From Computer Operator I moved to weekly payroll and then in October 1996 I was promoted to the position of Accounts Assistant . With Barratt’s financial support I completed my HNC in Accountancy at night school. In 1998 I was promoted to Assistant Accountant. In June 2001, after 16 years of in-house training I was offered my current position of Accountant.
I would recommend working here as we are a ‘can do’ company, dedicated to producing high quality homes whilst maintaining tight control of costs.
