Time with Company: 19 Years
I joined David Wilson Homes East Midlands back in 1992, 19 years ago, having not long left university and at the time it was proving difficult to get work. What attracted me to David Wilson Homes was their reputation within the industry as the premier house builder.
Initially I joined the Construction Department as a Trainee Assistant Site Manager. I quickly moved up the ranks, after 6 months I was an Assistant Site Manager then 2 years later a Site Manager and since then I have been a Project Manager and for the last 6 years I have been one of the Contracts Managers, still at the East Midlands Division. What’s best for me in my role is that I get to supervise the building of a quality product and move a customer into their new home, not just an empty box.
As well as making my way up the ranks my work has been recognised by numerous awards including 5 quality awards and 4 top 100 seals of excellence through the NHBC as well as various internal company awards. I have also been responsible for obtaining ISO14001 & ISO 18001 for our East Midlands Division.
David Wilson Homes is now part of the Barratt Group and what reassures me about the future is that the Company is continually looking forward and even in these difficult times the 3 year, 5 year and longer term plans are continually being reviewed. Brand Reputation is important and I feel the David Wilson brand has been supported through these difficult market conditions.
