Time with the Company: 4 years
Prior to working for Barratt Manchester I did not work within the construction industry. However this did not prevent me from recognising the company’s reputation as the country’s leading house builder. Once I’d identified my future career path it’s was this reputation that initially attracted me to the business. After speaking with various people and visiting the Barratt website, reading profiles such as this, I was attracted by Barratt’s commitment to individual personal development and career progression.
This commitment was well demonstrated as within two years with Barratt I had gained a HNC in Building Studies and progressed from Trainee to Assistant Surveyor. Throughout this period I have received all the support and advice I’ve needed. This assistance has not only come from my colleagues in Commercial, but from other disciplines within the division.
The best part of my job is simply working within an efficient team of great people. This and the daily interaction with different people facing different challenges is why I enjoy my role. I would definitely recommend Barratt Manchester as an employer, with the training structures in place throughout the business, there are genuine opportunities for individual development and career progression.
