Time with company: 3 years, 2 months
When I first joined Barratt I was excited to be joining a large national company. My father recommended Barratt as he is employed as a Site Manager and this, combined with my first visit to the Southampton offices sealed my decision to join. I was really attracted to the training structure in place within the organisation, the career progression opportunities and the employee benefits.
Barratt are a company who drive high standards both with their products and their staff. I thrive on these expectations and have developed my career more quickly than I had expected due to the opportunities made available. There have been a lot of changes over the last few years especially around what they offer to their people and investment in technology, making it a modern and efficient company to work for.
Quite simply, coming in each day to facing different challenges is the main reason I enjoy my job. One of the reasons I came into Surveying and continue to enjoy the role so much is interacting with so many other disciplines within the company. Working with such a great group of people also makes even the tough days that bit easier!
I have always worked in housebuilding and joined Barratt in 2002 and in that time I have progressed to Chief Surveyor for the Southampton division. I’ve seen a lot of time and effort into developing and supporting my colleagues at all different levels, even those coming straight from school have been supported with education and training.
