Kate Lister

Field Sales Manager, Barratt / David Wilson North East

Kate joined the Barratt Graduate Programme in 2007, after graduating from Northumbria University with a degree in Business & Marketing. After completing her year one rotations at BDW North East she accepted a role as a Change Manager, implementing a new Process/Cost driven project (QC) throughout all divisions in the country.  After successfully completing the Graduate Programme, she has now joined the Sales team back at in the North East.

“In my first few years with Barratt I’ve met so many people and learnt so much about the company and the industry as a whole. The level of support that I and the other graduates have received is overwhelming and has really helped our development.

Because the programme was only in its first year when I joined, I thought it would be a bit of an adventure - and it certainly has been! The construction industry has been through some very uncertain times of late, but Barratt have stood firm in a turbulent market.

Being chosen to play a part in such a high impact project (QC) this early in my career brought huge personal reward both in terms of what I’ve learnt and the people I’ve worked with. The QC Project forced me to build on a number of core skills such as time management, dealing with conflict, effective coaching, facilitation and presentation, all of which I have been able to take in to my current role in the business. I feel it’s helped me to become a more confident, well-rounded and mature individual. And I’m proud to say that the project content that we designed will remain a legacy within the business for years to come.

I’m now excited to be working within Sales and getting to know the ins and outs of a specific job role in an established team. As well as specialising in a discipline that I feel passionate about, I can put what I’ve learnt into practice whilst continuing my development. I am now managing a number of developments in the North East area, which is highly rewarding and I’m looking forward to continuing my journey with Barratt / David Wilson.”
